Jim Mintert Strives to Serve Farmers: See Him in Person!
07/16/2025
In a recent Indiana Prairie Farmer article online, writer Allison Lynch provided a well-deserved profile of Jim Mintert as a dedicated servant who helps farmers make the best decisions.
“As the previous director of the Center for Commercial Agriculture and professor of ag economics at Purdue he witnessed changes in the ag industry over the past several decades…”
She continued,
“Mintert’s dedication to both Indiana and U.S. agriculture helps set him apart from other ag economists. His commitment to finding new solutions to help farmers improve their operations is what qualifies him to receive the 2025 Indiana Honorary Master Farmer award. This award is sponsored by Indiana Prairie Farmer and the Purdue College of Agriculture.”
Dr. Mintert recently retired from his roles at Purdue and has left a legacy through his development, along with others, of the Ag Economy Barometer that gives farmers a monthly snapshot of how producers are feeling about emerging topics and ongoing issues. He continues to stay involved with conducting the surveys, promoting the monthly barometer and sharing his insights with farmers across the country.

Few people in the country have a deeper sense of the pulse of farmer’s mindsets and how these mindsets change from month to month as local, regional and global events directly impact the crucial decisions that farmers much make for the success of their business.
For the opportunity to meet Dr. Mintert in person and hear him provide one of the first summaries of the November Ag Economic Barometer, attend the ASAC Annual Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana from November 2 – 4. Other speakers include Kip Tom, Ted McKinney, Don Lamb and a host of nationally recognized experts in their field. For more information about the Conference and to register to attend, go to:
